Välisukse hooldus: kuidas pikendada ukse eluiga 20+ aastat

Välisukse hooldus kuidas pikendada ukse eluiga 20+ aastat

The front door is one of the most frequently used elements of a home. It is constantly exposed to cold, moisture, sunlight, wind, and daily use. With proper maintenance, a high-quality entrance door can last more than 20 years without major problems. Regular care helps preserve the door’s appearance, insulation properties, and security.

1. Clean the door regularly

Dust, dirt, and environmental pollution can accumulate on the door surface over time. It is recommended to clean the front door at least a few times a year. Use a soft cloth, warm water, and a mild cleaning solution.

Avoid strong chemicals and abrasive sponges that can damage the surface.

If the door has glass panels, clean them regularly to maintain a neat and elegant look.

2. Check the seals

Door seals play an important role in insulation and draft protection. Over time they may wear out, crack, or lose elasticity. Check them at least once a year.

If you notice damage or feel cold air coming through the door, replacing the seal is recommended. It is a simple and inexpensive way to improve energy efficiency.

3. Maintain hinges and locks

Door hinges and locks also require occasional maintenance. If the door starts to squeak or becomes difficult to close, the mechanism may simply need lubrication.

Use special lubricant or silicone spray. Usually, maintenance once or twice a year is enough.

4. Check door alignment

Over time a door may slightly sag or shift. As a result, it may not close properly and the seals may no longer function effectively.

If the door becomes harder to close or gaps appear, it is advisable to adjust the hinges. A properly aligned door lasts longer and keeps heat inside the home.

5. Protect the door from weather

Even modern entrance doors made from durable materials are affected by sun, rain, and snow over time.

A canopy, entrance roof, or small porch can protect the door from direct weather exposure and significantly extend its lifespan.

Conclusion

Regular maintenance takes little time but helps prevent expensive repairs in the future. Cleaning the door, checking seals, lubricating hinges, and adjusting alignment can keep a front door in excellent condition for more than 20 years.

A well-maintained entrance door not only looks good but also improves energy efficiency, security, and comfort in everyday use.
